December 17, 2025

Legal and business publications in the U.S. and UK have highlighted Cadwalader’s latest round of attorney promotions, marking the largest in the firm’s recent history.

In the New York Law Journal, the outlet reported that “Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft announced it was promoting seven attorneys to partner at the start of 2026, with 17 additional attorneys being appointed counsel or special counsel.” The story noted that the round of promotions is “the largest in the firm’s recent history,” underscoring growth across practices and offices.

“We’re thrilled to share this news,” said Patrick Quinn, co-managing partner of Cadwalader, in the firm’s press release. “The past year has been one of the most successful in our firm’s storied 233-year history. Our strong performance is thanks to the extraordinary talent that Cadwalader has long been known for. Our new partners, special counsel and counsel will carry forward this legacy.”

Wesley Misson, co-managing partner, added: “These 24 new senior lawyers, coupled with the over 95 new attorneys who have joined our firm in 2025, underscores that we are a people business, and people are and will always be Cadwalader’s greatest asset.”

The Law360 UK article, “Cadwalader Promotes 7 To Partner In London, NY,” also cited the firm’s strong year. Quinn described 2025 as “one of the most successful in our firm’s storied 233-year history,” while Misson emphasized that Cadwalader “remains the premier destination for elite lawyers to thrive and achieve winning results for clients who trust us to handle their most important and complex matters.”

The report noted that three of the new partners are based in New York, with four in London, including Jack Kelly, who advises sponsors and asset managers on real estate and credit funds; Matthew Peters, who focuses on corporate real estate and private equity; Jodie Valler-Feltham, who handles M&A and equity capital markets matters; and David Kiernan, who focuses on structured finance and securitization.

In the Solicitors Journal article, “Cadwalader Announces New Partner Promotions,” the firm’s co-managing partners highlighted Cadwalader’s robust promotion round, noting that it reflects the firm’s commitment to “fostering talent and enhancing its service offerings in a rapidly evolving legal landscape.” The report also detailed partner promotions across multiple locations and practice areas, including corporate, real estate, finance and structured transactions.
