March 04, 2024

Cadwalader Corporate partner Erica Hogan recently spoke on 100 Women in Finance’s “Future of ESG and Its Impact on Your Investments,” panel on February 29.

Erica was joined by Sari Mayer (Global Credit Advisors), Diana Glassman (Federated Hermes), Hannah Orowitz (Compensia) and Moderator Julianne Recine (Kroll), to discuss the latest developments and trends in ESG from the perspectives of business, legal and consulting professionals.

More specifically, Erica discussed the long-awaited climate disclosure rules, which the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is expected to vote on next week.

The SEC rules aim to standardize climate-related company disclosures relating to the oversight and management of climate risk; greenhouse gas emissions data; and climate-related targets and goals, among other things.

“If adopted, the SEC rules on climate change will have a significant impact on financial reporting,” Erica said. “Public companies will need to be ready to evaluate their governance, disclosure controls and procedures and other enterprise risk management systems to ensure they are ready for the enhanced climate disclosure requirements.”
