Cadwalader’s Sixth Annual Finance Forum in Charlotte Gathers Nearly 500 Industry Leaders in Dialogue on Key Financial Markets Topics

October 27, 2022

Cadwalader hosted its sixth Finance Forum event in Charlotte today, gathering nearly 500 financial industry leaders from around the country for a dialogue on the foremost issues facing the industry today, including with respect to leveraged finance, commercial real estate, fund finance, middle market lending, asset-based lending and structured finance.

The event took place at the JW Marriott, directly across from Cadwalader’s Charlotte office in the Legacy Union tower. The program offered three tracks of industry panels moderated by Cadwalader partners and featured the expertise of more than 50 global industry leaders, who represented a broad range of financial institutions, debt funds, specialty finance lenders, investors, industry associations and other leading organizations.

The event was keynoted by Charlotte sports legend Muggsy Bogues, whose presentation, “Small Ball Meets Big Finance,” addressed his lifelong responses in the face of adversity and his never-ending commitment to excellence on and off the basketball court. Cadwalader’s Chambers-ranked real estate partner Holly Chamberlain, who’s based in Charlotte, provided opening remarks, and the formal program was followed by a networking reception.

The 2022 Finance Forum featured panels on a variety of important topics, including:

  • Heading Into the Storm: Preparing to Survive and Profit from Turbulence in Finance Markets
  • Commercial Real Estate Industry Perspective: Lessons Learned, and Looking Ahead to 2023
  • Behind the Numbers: The 2022 Fund Finance Market
  • Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS): Trends, Challenges and Opportunities

  • NAV’igating the Secondaries Market

Cadwalader’s annual “Finance Forum” was launched in 2016 to shine a light on both the Charlotte metro area as an increasingly prominent hub for the banking and financial industries and the firm’s Charlotte office, which over the past 25-plus years has developed into a group with over 100 lawyers spanning the spectrum of practice areas.

“Finance is in our Firm’s DNA, and by combining our deep industry relationships with our attorneys’ knowledge and market-leading experience, this event provides a platform at a high level for industry peers to connect around the most pressing issues, challenges and opportunities they are facing across a range of financial markets,” said Stuart Goldstein, who co-leads Cadwalader’s Capital Markets practice and is Managing Partner of the Charlotte office. “Especially in this year of widespread economic transition, we understand that finance professionals in all market segments are eager to share perspectives and gain new insights to help guide their future decision-making.”

Added Cadwalader Managing Partner Pat Quinn: “We feel incredibly grateful to our panelists, clients and other attendees for continuing to support Cadwalader as the organizer of this unique annual program that addresses the most timely topics in the financial markets, and for taking the time out of their busy schedules to prioritize a day of intense learning, networking and discussion.”
