March 24, 2022

Cadwalader has been shortlisted for multiple awards, including in the “Law Firms of the Year,” “Teams of the Year” and “Deals of the Year” categories, as part of the 2022 IFLR Europe Awards, which recognize legal innovation in cross-border transactions that closed in 2021.

The firm is nominated as a top U.S. law firm and a top structured finance and securitization team, both in recognition of the firm’s market-leading work across a broad range of products and asset classes.

The firm also earned multiple “Deal of the Year” nominations in the “Structured Finance and Securitization” category for its representations in connection with:

  • “Starz CRE CLO”: Cadwalader advised Credit Suisse as arranger and placement agent on the Starz CRE CLO, the first CRE CLO in Europe since the credit crisis. Cadwalader’s team, led by partners David Quirolo, Nick Shiren, Jeffrey Rotblat and Sabah Nawaz, also included partners Adam Blakemore, James Frazier, Catherine Richardson and Adam Risell; senior counsel Scott Cammarn and Maurine Bartlett; and associates Jinisha Patel, Maria Geraghty, Edward Morphett, Aaron Kennedy and Nicole Schapira.
  • “ERM Funding – ERMBS Program and Series 2021-1”: Cadwalader advised RGA Americas Reinsurance Company, Ltd and RGA UK Services Limited on establishing a UK equity release mortgage-backed securities program and on the issuance of series 2021-1. ERM Funding is the first post-financial crisis publicly-rated full-term UK securitization of equity release mortgages comprising recent-vintage originations. Cadwalader’s team, led by partner Matthew Duncan, also included partners Michael Sholem, Adam Blakemore and Catherine Richardson; special counsel Assia Damianova; associates Oliver Bond and Hugo Chan; and paralegal Manasa Yoga.
  • “LynxCap NPL Securitization Platform”: Cadwalader advised Insight Investment Management (Global) Limited on this securitization of non-performing loans and real estate owned assets in Slovenia, Croatia and Austria with various Insight funds subscribing to the initial notes issued. This transaction involved the innovative establishment of a cross-border program under which the Issuer has the flexibility to acquire further portfolios financed by subsequent issuances and backed by cash flows from distinct portfolios. Cadwalader’s team, led by partner Stephen Day, also included partner Adam Blakemore; counsel Emma Gallagher; associates Edward Morphett and Oliver Bond; and trainee solicitor Sharon Takhar.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 5.
