October 24, 2014

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, has been named among the “Top Corporate Allies for Diversity” by Difference Matters Magazine. The awards, presented last night in New York City, honor organizations for their steadfast and pioneering commitment to and support of employees. Partner Kathy Hirata Chin and Sonnia Shields, the firm’s Director of Diversity, attended the event, with Ms. Chin accepting the award on behalf of the firm.

Cadwalader was recognized in the LGBT and Women categories, with the publication commending several of the firm’s initiatives, including the firm’s enhanced benefits program primarily impacting women attorneys; the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) focus on furthering the recruitment, retention, development, and advancement of women both at the firm and in the legal profession as a whole; and the LGBT Network’s pro bono work and community outreach.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our efforts in fostering a diverse work environment,” said Sonnia Shields. “Our commitment to diversity and inclusion contributes to creating a more productive, effective, and dynamic work environment, not only in our offices but throughout our communities.”

Earlier this year, Cadwalader achieved a perfect score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index, and the firm was recognized by HRC as one of “America’s Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” for a second consecutive year.
