Will Sugden is an associate in Cadwalader’s Financial Restructuring Group and Leveraged Finance & Private Credit Group based in London. Will acts on restructuring and insolvency matters, representing debtors, financial sponsors and creditors including banks, institutional investors and funds. Will also has experience acting on a wide range of financing transactions.  Will’s experience includes an 8 month secondment to the direct lending and credit opportunities teams of a leading credit fund. 

Prior to joining Cadwalader, Will was a senior associate at a global law firm in London, and also practised as a senior associate at a global law firm in Australia.

  • Global Ports on the refinancing of its USD 250 million New York law governed notes issued by its wholly owned Turkish subsidiary, including in relation to a proposed scheme of arrangement.
  • A major international card scheme in relation to its exposure to the Wirecard business.
  • Barclays as global coordinator and lead manager in connection with Inspired Gaming’s offering of £235m senior secured notes due 2026.
  • ICG on its forward funding of Europe's largest single-occupier logistics site for Jaguar Land Rover.
  • British Steel in its restructuring negotiations with government and other key stakeholders.
  • The first lien lenders to Carpetright in its financial restructuring by way of a company voluntary arrangement.
  • Bathstore in its restructuring negotiations with creditors and other key stakeholders.
  • A creditor in relation to the restructuring of Peabody energy.
  • Numerous engagements acting for secured creditors and insolvency practitioners in relation to the enforcement of security.
