Rikesh Patel is a registered patent attorney and associate in Cadwalader’s Intellectual Property Group.

Rikesh has over a decade of experience in high stakes matters in the field of intellectual property law. He has deep patent prosecution and counseling experience in a wide range of industries, including medical devices, 3D metal printing, jet engines, blockchain-based technologies, FinTech, aerospace electronics, consumer electronics, semiconductors, and software.

His patent litigation experience includes working on inter partes reviews (IPRs) and post-grant reviews (PGRs) before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board, providing support for active litigation, and performing pre-litigation diligence. He has litigation experience in a variety of technologies, including industrial automation and control systems, implantable medical devices, business to business software as a service (SaaS), server processors, cellular emergency broadcast systems, and electronic automobile components. Prior to Cadwalader, Rikesh was involved in national smartphone app store antitrust litigation, including coordinating third-party fact discovery relating to online gaming and payment processing in Epic Games, Inc. v. Apple Inc. and Epic Games, Inc. v. Google Inc.

He has significant experience with patent licensing, patent pools, and IP due diligence to advance corporate M&A efforts. His patent licensing experience includes evaluating patents and patent portfolios with the potential for high return licensing revenues. Rikesh has also led due diligence efforts to create a patent licensing pool related to standard-essential 802.11n wireless technology.

Rikesh is actively involved in his local NY chapter of the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) as well as the firm’s diversity efforts.

Rikesh received his J.D. from University of New Hampshire, School of Law where he was Senior Article Editor of IDEA: The Intellectual Property Law Review, and his B.S., cum laude, in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with a minor in business management.
