Richard Nevins practices in Cadwalader's Financial Restructuring Group and is recognized in the 2021 edition of Best Lawyers in the UK and the 2020 edition of IFLR for his two decades of global experience. He focuses on complex financial restructurings, special situation and high yield financings and refinancings, and public and private company M&A transactions (in both solvent and distressed contexts).

Richard has represented creditors, debtors and other stakeholders in closing restructurings and other transactions worldwide, involving corporates in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Poland, Norway, Ukraine, the Netherlands and Russia. Richard is very experienced in the issuance and restructuring of New York law high yield bonds, the application and interpretation of the U.S. Federal securities laws and Delaware corporate law, and the implementation of financial restructurings through both U.S. Chapter 11 proceedings and U.K. schemes of arrangement.

A graduate of New York University School of Law and an editor of its Law Review, Richard received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and is a registered foreign lawyer in England and Wales.

Antenna TV S.A. – represented an ad hoc committee of holders of 7¼% Senior Notes due 2015 issued by Antenna TV S.A. in negotiated redemption

Avangardco – acted for the noteholder committee in the extension and renegotiation of Avangardco’s $200 million Eurobond through an English law Scheme of Arrangement

Avon Energy – represented Avon's creditors in connection with negotiated bond repurchase in connection with sale of company

Belvedere S.A. – represented secured creditor steering committee in financial restructuring of French/Polish spirits company, subsequent sale

British Energy – represented BE creditors committee in connection with bond restructuring/equitisation

Brunner Mond – represented debtor (UK soda ash producer) in financial restructuring

CEDC – acted for the senior secured noteholder committee in the restructuring of this Polish and Russian sprits manufacturer by way of a pre-packaged new money US Chapter 11 process

Concordia Bus AB – represented subordinated creditors (now shareholders) of Swedish bus transportation company in connection with equitisation, mezzanine financing and preference shares refinancing

Consolidated Minerals – advised the ad hoc noteholder committee in the restructuring of Consolidated Minerals’ secured notes

Consolidated Minerals – acted for the secured noteholder committee in connection with China Tian Yuan Manganese Limited’s acquisition of Consolidated Minerals

eircom Group Limited – advised the holders of floating rate notes issued by ERC Ireland Finance Limited in connection with the potential restructuring of this Irish telecommunications company

Equitable Life – represented Equitable Life creditors in connection with negotiated debt repurchase

Four Seasons Healthcare – represented blocking group in connection with the extension of the company’s bond debt

Gallery Media – represented creditors committee in successful financial restructuring of Russian outdoor media advertising company, and subsequent exit

Global Auto Logistics/GAL S.A. – represented creditors of French automobile logistics company (principal logistics provider to Renault SA)

GUS/Great Universal Stores S.A. – represented creditors of parent of Argos and Experian in connection with covenant breach triggered by demerger

IFCO Systems – represented creditors committee of German pallet manufacturer in connection with financial restructuring/equitisation, and subsequent company sale to Apax

Interoil/IOX – acted for a group of senior secured noteholders in the successful restructuring of this Norwegian oil and gas exploration company with assets in Columbia

Jazztel plc – represented creditors' committee in connection with restructuring/equitisation of Spanish internet access provider/telco

Sea Trucks – acted for bondholders in the restructuring of Sea Trucks Group

Seadragon – represented debtor (mobile oil rig operator) in bank debt restructuring and equity reallocation

SEAT Pagine Gialle S.p.A – advised the ad hoc committee of the Company's €750 million Senior Secured Notes in connection with the Company's consensual restructuring and subsequent Italian concordato proceedings

TK Aluminum – represented creditors committee of aluminum automotive engine block manufacturer in financial restructuring and subsequent Bermuda liquidation proceedings
