Marc Veilleux is an associate in Cadwalader’s Financial Restructuring Group.

Prior to joining Cadwalader, Marc clerked for Honorable Sean H. Lane of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and then joined the restructuring group of another preeminent New York law firm.

Marc has co-authored articles on a variety of restructuring topics and his work has been published in Law360, the Harvard Law School Bankruptcy Roundtable, and Pratt's Journal of Bankruptcy Law. Marc is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganization Committee.

Marc received his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where he was Senior Articles Editor of the Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal, and his B.A. from Bowdoin College.

Marc is admitted to practice in the State of New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

  • Represent monoline insurer in the restructuring of billions of dollars of bonds issued by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and instrumentalities, including the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority.
  • Chesapeake Energy Corporation: Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Chesapeake Energy Corporation, one of the largest oil and gas exploration companies in the United States, with funded debt of over $9 billion on the petition date, before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
  • Alta Fundamental Advisers: Represented Alta Fundamental Advisers, which acquired 100% of the loans and commitments under the first lien RBL facility of Rockdale Marcellus, an independent oil and gas exploration and production (E&P) company with a natural gas-focused asset base, prior to Rockdale Marcellus’s Chapter 11 filing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
  • Represented an ad hoc group of creditors of the estate of a prominent New York area real estate developer and associated property companies in connection with an out-of-court restructuring.
