Carl Hey is an associate in the Finance Group in Cadwalader's London office.

Carl’s practice involves advising on the financing of real estate assets and on the acquisition, disposal and financing of real estate asset loan portfolios. He represents both lenders and corporate clients, including financial institutions (both bank and alternative lenders), publicly listed and private multinational corporations, joint ventures, international fund managers and private equity.

Prior to joining Cadwalader, Carl was a senior associate at a global offshore law firm in the Cayman Islands and London, and also practised in leading law firms in London and New Zealand.

Before training as a lawyer, Carl served as a warfare officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy, eventually attaining the rank of lieutenant commander.

Carl obtained a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Studies and History) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and a Master of Science with Distinction (Global Finance & Banking) from King’s College London. He is admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand, and as an attorney in the Cayman Islands (non-practising).
