Cadwalader partner Tom Grodecki was quoted in Compliance Week’s coverage of Serious Fraud Office (“SFO”) Director Nick Ephgrave’s early departure and what it could mean for the agency’s priorities moving forward.
Tom observed that Ephgrave’s successor “may not be as keen to pursue” Ephgrave’s call to introduce financial incentives for whistleblowers, noting that such a policy would require legislative reform.
“Ephgrave’s calls for reform have certainly changed the tone of the debate,” Tom said, adding that the next director may shift focus toward more immediately achievable priorities.
