Cadwalader has again demonstrated its market-leading presence in the securitization markets, advising market participants on the largest number of transactions across ABS, CLOs, CMBS, RMBS and GSE multifamily MBS through the first half of 2021, while providing sophisticated legal counsel and guidance as the industry continues to rebound from pandemic-driven disruption.
Based on industry league tables*, Cadwalader advised issuers and underwriters on the largest number of transactions – 193 transactions as issuers’ counsel, valued at approximately $93 billion, and 255 transactions as underwriters’ counsel, valued at approximately $145 billion.
“As we anticipated at the start of the year, the theme for the securitization market so far in 2021 has been one of rebound and regrowth, and it’s been hugely gratifying to work with our issuer and underwriter clients while growing our practice to meet this increased demand,” said Michael Gambro, co-chair of Cadwalader’s Capital Markets Group. “As a market leader, we have continued to expand our capabilities in the U.S. and Europe and have hired more than two dozen associates to keep up with the uptick in business. We are well-positioned to service the robust pipeline of transactions on the horizon.”
Added Stuart Goldstein, co-chair of Cadwalader’s Capital Markets Group: “During the roller coaster of last year, clients relied on our long-established counsel and full view of the market to make critical decisions in the face of unprecedented challenges. Now that conditions have improved, it follows that our clients have sought our guidance on initiating, structuring and closing many of the largest and most complex securitization transactions, which have been helping to re-open the markets.”
Cadwalader’s Capital Markets practice, including attorneys in New York, Charlotte, Washington, D.C., and London, is recognized as a premier global legal advisor in securitization and structured finance.
