Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, represented Smurfit Kappa Group in its recent five-year trade receivables securitisation programme of up to €240 million maturing in June 2019. The programme utilises Smurfit Kappa’s receivables in France, the United Kingdom and Germany, and will be used to refinance a similar facility that matures in 2015.

Smurfit Kappa is a leading global producer of paper-based packaging, employing more than 40,000 employees across 32 countries.

The Cadwalader team included partners Jeremiah Wagner, Bruce Bloomingdale and Adam Blakemore; associates Jake Lindsay and Mark Harbison; and paralegal Alexander Sykopetritis.

Since 1985, Cadwalader has facilitated the issuance of billions of dollars of asset-backed securities. The firm advises corporations, banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions in developing and structuring new products in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Earlier this month, Cadwalader was named Best Securitization Law Firm of the Year by GlobalCapital. The firm also was ranked number one as both issuer’s counsel and underwriter’s counsel in the Mortgage-Backed Securities category in The American Lawyer 2014 Corporate Scorecard, and was named the top commercial mortgage securitization practice in the nation by Commercial Mortgage Alert for the fourteenth consecutive year.
