Litigation Writer

The Litigation Writer at Cadwalader will be based in the Washington, DC office and work closely with the Associate Director of Business Development (“BD”) and Marketing as well as partners within the firm’s Global Litigation Group to provide content and messaging to support the Global Litigation Group’s strategic objectives. The role will encompass the following responsibilities: 

  • In collaboration with leadership (the co-chairs of Global Litigation, litigation group practice heads, and the Associate Director of BD), draft articles, provide written support for webinars or other speaking opportunities, and otherwise contribute to thought leadership BD initiatives in the group.
  • Provide high-level reporting, writing, and editing for external communications and business development content that support the needs of the Global Litigation group.
  • Seek out, identify, and develop compelling, timely content in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Proofread, edit, and fact-check material for quick turnaround, while incorporating and prioritizing feedback from multiple stakeholders.
  • Work with the firm’s Communications and Business Development teams to define, refine, and support the development of key messaging about the Global Litigation group consistent with the tasks above.
  • Assist the firm’s podcast and video team by writing scripts or otherwise contributing to these efforts. 

Qualifications: 

To be successful, the candidate will need:

  • Expert writing skills and a dedication to accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written, including the ability to interact comfortably with and adopt the voice of attorneys and senior executives.
  • Exceptional internal client service and a “can do” approach to work and collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • The ability to:
      • handle competing priorities.
      • develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
      • think outside of the box and offer creative solutions.
      • work in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting strong attention to detail.
      • be a self-starter who can proactively alert colleagues about project deadlines, action items, and potential challenges to meeting goals.
  • To be prepared to monitor email outside of normal business hours and be available as needed.

 Education and Experience: 

  • BA or BS degree, preferably in communications, journalism, economics, government, business, political science, or English.
  • 5+ years of law firm, finance sector (such as banks, investment firms, or think tanks), or other professional services experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

This role is expected to be in the office at least three days per weekand and attendance is mandatory on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday .
