Career Development & Training

Cadwalader hires the most talented associates and fosters an environment that promotes their success. Like the clients we serve, our associates have a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds. Cadwalader is committed to ensuring that all associates can strive to succeed, in their personal career growth and for our clients. Our training and sponsorship programs are open to all associates and are designed to provide the support necessary to develop promising associates’ talent and enrich their careers at Cadwalader.

Firmwide Programming includes a suite of substantive training programs and opportunities to learn from and engage across practice groups.

Basic Training is a career development program designed to support attorneys in their second year of practicing law at Cadwalader. The goal is to provide guidance and career tips on how to be a successful attorney at the firm. The five-week program covers a range of topics through interactive projects and workshops, including: How to be an Indispensable Associate: Making a Name for Yourself; Communications 101; and Dealing with Difficult People.

Base Camp is our newest talent development program for high-performing associates. Base Camp focuses on leadership training and other programming to help prepare associates for the next stage of their careers. Base Camp provides a bridge of programming from our initiatives for more junior attorneys to the Sponsorship Program.

The Sponsorship Program is a nomination-based program for high-performing senior attorneys with at least seven years of experience. The goal of the sponsorship program is to ensure that our talented attorneys have the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to have long-term successful careers at the firm. Through this program, attorneys are selected to participate as “protégés” and are each assigned a senior partner to serve as their sponsor for at least one year.
