Yushan Ng is a partner and global co-chair of Cadwalader's Financial Restructuring Group.

Widely recognized as one of Europe’s leading restructuring and insolvency attorneys, Yushan has acted on a wide range of restructurings, insolvency proceedings and financings across a range of jurisdictions, with a focus on advising institutions that invest in distressed situations or impaired credits. He has particular experience in advising on complex loan-to-own transactions for investors with significant strategic positions.

Yushan’s practice also encompasses advising lenders and borrowers on a range of corporate and acquisition finance transactions. He combines his financing skill-set with practical restructuring expertise to develop and implement novel rescue and priming loan structures, with the goal of maximizing credit risk arbitrage for clients investing in difficult situations.

Yushan is described by Chambers & Partners as “very innovative, mixes technical expertise with calmness.” He is also praised for thinking through a transaction “from every angle.”  His clients include Oaktree Capital Management, Centerbridge Capital Partners, GSO Capital, Apollo International, Avenue Capital, Alchemy Special Opportunities and Njord Partners.

Yushan graduated from Merton College, Oxford University. He is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. Prior to joining Cadwalader, Yushan was a partner in the restructuring group of Linklaters LLP.  Yushan also serves on the council of the Insolvency Lawyers Association.

  • Acting for creditor committees in the restructurings of Marme Inversiones, Camaieu, Bridon, Harkand Group, Norshore, Consolidated Minerals, Airwave, Autobar, Red Bee Media, Regency Casinos, Truvo (World Directories), Wind Hellas, Welcome Break and Parmalat Brazil;

  • Representing distressed investors in connection with the loan-to-own restructurings of ATU, Endeka Ceramics, Klockner Pentaplast, Fitness First, Countrywide Plc, Bavaria Yachtbau and Gulmar Marine, as well as a number of recent significant confidential transactions in the hotel and real estate sector;

  • Advising investors on the rescue or special situation financings of Abengoa SA, Center Parcs, Codere, OGX, Pinnacle, Geoquip Marine, Solidal and Gruppo Boluda;

  • Acting for lenders or borrowers on financing transactions for Maple Hotels, Forchem OY, GHG and Pinnacle;

  • Advising investors on the acquisition of French steelmaker Ascometal out of Redressement Judiciaire;

  • Advising corporates ATU, SEAT Pagine Gialle SpA, Viridian Power, Ferretti SpA, Welsh Power, international flight training provider Oxford Aviation and Luxembourg autoparts maker IEE on their respective debt restructurings or refinancings.
