Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, has received a 2015 Pro Bono Publico Award for outstanding service to The Legal Aid Society.

Every year, the Society recognizes the proficient work of volunteer lawyers, law firms, corporations, and other professionals who support The Legal Aid Society and/or participate in the Society’s Pro Bono Program by providing exceptional legal services to low-income New Yorkers.

Brian McGovern and Peter Tringali defended tenants of New York City housing against Termination of Tenancy proceedings initiated by the New York City Housing Authority. NYCHA ultimately withdrew and settled the respective proceedings, and both tenants were allowed to remain in their apartments.

The award was presented by the Honorable Jonathan Lippman, Chief Judge of the State of New York, at an event in The Prince George Ballroom in New York City on November 9.
