On January 1, 2021, Congress overrode a presidential veto to enact the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020 (the "Act"). As part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021, the Act creates a broad range of new AML obligations for federal agencies, financial institutions and other entities. As testament to the growing interest from GPs in portfolio financing this year, Secondaries Investor recently reported that 17Capital saw its strongest-ever pipeline of deals in 2020 and reportedly closed 10 deals worth $1.5 billion (roughly twice the deal value recorded in 2019).
