Tax Group Wins ‘Pro Bono’ Industry Award

Cadwalader’s Tax Group was named “Pro Bono Firm of the Year” as part of the International Tax Review (ITR) annual “Americas Tax Awards” program, which “recognizes remarkable achievements and developments by international tax professionals from the North, Central and South American regions over a 12-month period.”

The firm’s Not-for-Profit Incubator, which is co-chaired by Linda Swartz and Jason Schwartz – and whose team includes Alissa Kalinowski, Mike Gonzalez, Annie Mohan and Harris Greenberg – works diligently year-round to help aspiring not-for-profit organizations obtain tax-exempt status on behalf of a diverse range of aspiring missions.

Over the past decade, the Incubator has incorporated and obtained tax-exemption for nearly 400 such organizations, which sets them up for great future successes.

By example, in the past few months, our Team has helped a range of groups complete their 501(c)(3) determination process, including:

  • Save All Children International, Inc., which works to protect children from poverty, hunger, disease, abuse, and violence around the globe;
  • Angel Moms, Inc., which offers a community, support, and services for mothers who have experienced the loss of a child; and
  • The Cassandra Banks Foundation, Inc., which is designed to help BIPOC women around the United States gain economic freedom by providing information and scholarships for apprenticeship programs.

The Incubator has long been a critical contributor to our firm’s broader pro bono program, and we’re thrilled to see our team receive this highly visible recognition within the larger tax community. Congrats to our Incubator team – and all our attorneys – who contribute their time and transactional expertise to this good work.
