In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, members of Cadwalader’s Black and Latino Association (CBLA) partnered with The Campaign Against Hunger on a service project to help winterize the Campaign's Saratoga Farm, a community urban agriculture space located in Brooklyn, NY. Volunteers prepared the soil for planting fruits and vegetables, repotted and replanted garlic cloves and green beans, and harvested herbs from the farm. Following the project, CBLA members learned how to prepare healthy meals with the fruits, vegetables and herbs that were harvested that day.

Cadwalader’s Tax Group was named “Pro Bono Firm of the Year” as part of the International Tax Review (ITR) annual “Americas Tax Awards” program, which “recognizes remarkable achievements and developments by international tax professionals from the North, Central and South American regions over a 12-month period.”

More than 60 Cadwalader employees participated – either fundraising or contributing – in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Charlotte on October 23. Our 13-member team carried the proverbial banner for the Firm, and Team Cadwalader raised $46,550 for this important cause, ranking as the #1 team in Charlotte and #42 in the nation – the second straight year we’ve been ranking in the national top 50. We have now raised over $350,000 since 2012.

In October, the Firm received the notable distinction of being named to Bloomberg Law’s inaugural “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Framework,” just one of 28 U.S. firms that “meet or exceed an established threshold of diversity, equity and inclusion in their firm.” Each firm’s DEI Score measures both the level of disclosure of diversity-related metrics as well as “distinguished performance against standards” in each of these six areas: recruitment and retention; leadership and talent pipeline; business innovation and strategy; firm demographics; marketing; and diversity and inclusion in the community.

This holiday season, Cadwalader participated in several charitable initiatives, offering employees a variety of opportunities to help make the holiday season a little brighter for those in need. One such opportunity was the annual toy drive led by our Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) to benefit What About the Children and the Fox House in New York, the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program in North Carolina, and East London Business Alliance in the UK. In New York, members of the WLI spent a fun-filled afternoon together wrapping the toys before they were delivered to the charities for distribution.
