Cadwalader Celebrates Black History Month

Black History Month annually celebrates and honors the important contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout the nation’s history with a series of programs and events during the month of February. The theme for Black History Month 2023 was “Black Resistance.”

In commemoration of Black History Month, the Firm hosted numerous events, both virtually and in-person, including “An Evening Conversation with Seendy Fouron,” Deputy General Counsel at Assured Investment Management. The event was sponsored by Cadwalader’s Black and Latino Association (CBLA) and our Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI). During this exclusive conversation, Seendy discussed her career path, client expectations, and the importance of developing relationships throughout one’s career.

Other events included a private screening of the movie "TILL" with our Barclays colleagues and an evening at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem with the Black Employee Network of Morgan Stanley’s Legal and Compliance Division.

The Firm also ran a social media campaign featuring the following attorneys and professionals reflecting on what Black History Month means to them: Adetola Ajayi, Cheryl Barnes, Johnna Brooks, Darrett Drayton, Rosalind Gaffney, Meica Green, Ellen Holloman, Andrea Nixon, and Daesha Roberts.
