The Firm was proud to participate in a virtual Credit Repair Clinic, a collaboration with the Pro Bono Institute (PBI), Barclays and other partner organizations, in celebration of Financial Institution Pro Bono Day. This important initiative helps survivors of human trafficking exercise their rights under the Federal Debt Bondage Repair Act (DBRA), which require credit reporting agencies to block adverse information that resulted from trafficking.
Working in teams alongside Barclays volunteers, our attorneys assisted survivors in reviewing their credit reports, identifying negative information linked to their exploitation, and preparing Trafficking Block Requests to the credit reporting agencies. While these requests do not erase underlying debts, they play a crucial role in restoring survivors’ financial independence—helping them access housing, credit and utilities in their own name.
A heartfelt thank-you to all of our volunteers. Your efforts are helping survivors take meaningful steps toward rebuilding their financial futures.
