Maurice Guttmann is a law clerk in Cadwalader's Corporate Group. His practice is concentrated in a variety of transactions, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, shareholder activism and defense, corporate governance and corporate finance. Maurice represents clients in cross-border and domestic complex transactional matters, including public and private mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, proxy contests, tender offers, spinoffs and joint ventures.
Prior to joining Cadwalader, Maurice was an associate at a leading law firm in São Paulo, Brazil, with experience in foreign investments, cross-border transactions, mergers and acquisitions, project finance and general corporate matters.
Maurice received his LL.B. from Pontifícia Universidade Católica of São Paulo and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree, with honors, at Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and earned a Parker School Recognition of Achievement. He is admitted to practice in Brazil.
