Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, one of the world’s leading international law firms, received M&A Advisor’s Magnus Deal of the Year award for the firm’s role on the restructuring of Chrysler LLC at the 8th Annual Mergers and Acquisitions Awards Gala held yesterday at the New York Athletic Club. Cadwalader acted as lead counsel to the United States Treasury Department Presidential Auto Task Force with respect to the restructuring of the storied U.S. automaker.
The M&A Advisor Awards Gala recognizes excellence in M&A deal-making and honors the top performers throughout the industry in a wide range of categories. The Magnus Deal of the Year Award nod came for an effort that placed Cadwalader lawyers at the heart of the creation and execution of the strategy to reorganize Chrysler and General Motors. The Cadwalader team, led by Financial Restructuring Department Co-Chairman John Rapisardi, advised senior members of the U.S. Government in guiding Chrysler in and out of bankruptcy in record time, giving the American auto industry a new lease on life.
“We are honored that M&A Advisor has recognized this high profile, complex transaction that required coordinated effort from virtually all areas of our firm.” said Chris White, Cadwalader’s Chairman. “We are proud to be selected by clients to help them develop innovative strategies needed to meet their most challenging legal needs.”
