Pro Bono Pride!

The Firm is extremely proud of associate Andrea Hoffer for securing Lawful Permanent Resident status (green card) for a pro bono client who was referred to us by Immigration Equality in early 2016.

Over the years, our attorneys worked with this client, a gay man from the Dominican Republic, to secure asylum in the U.S. because of the harm, and possibly death, that he would face because of his sexual orientation were he to return to the Dominican Republic. After being granted asylum in 2020, our client has been patiently working toward full Permanent Resident status. Upon receiving his green card, he expressed his extreme gratitude to the CWT team, remarking that “this was the best news he has received in years.” Andrea assumed this case from a former associate about two years ago, and we were pleased to see it come to a fitting close during Pride Month.

Andrea received support and guidance from partner Anne Tompkins and associate Candelario Saldana on this matter.
