Cadwalader’s Not-for-Profit Incubator Client Receives Nike Grant

One of the nonprofits incorporated by our Not-for-Profit Incubator, The Black Girl Tribe, has just received a $100,000 grant from Nike to expand its services and programs. TRIBE Inc. (Teach, Reach, Inspire, Build, Empower) was formed in Washington, D.C. in 2018, the brainchild of Gabrielle Martinez and with the pro bono assistance of our Not-for-Profit Incubator team of Jason Schwartz and Cathy Lian. The nonprofit, which began by providing sports opportunities to Black girls and now offers a much broader range of services and programs, has expanded beyond the Washington, D.C. metro region and now has members around the world. The $100,000 grant from Nike’s Black Community Commitment Portfolio will be used to expand The Black Girl Tribe’s programming, in addition to launching a “Black Girls Just Do” Initiative, which will be dedicated to providing opportunities for Black girls to explore the wide world of sports, enhancing their life skills and sisterhood.
