Ira J. Schacter
Ira Schacter's practice consists principally of creating and structuring complex financial solutions and the formation, acquisition, and capital raising activities of businesses that issue, underwrite, trade, or invest in financial products. He is frequently called upon to develop unique financial solutions for corporate and financial institutions that bridge traditional finance with structured finance.
Mr. Schacter is involved in virtually all aspects of the structured finance business with almost every type of securitization, including insurance risk, whole-company, and CDOs and with assets from the traditional to the varied, including corporate loans, swap receivables, repo, and other financial assets, as well as a variety of other unique assets, such as franchise royalties and shipping containers. He has extensive experience counseling monolines and representing them in their transactions.
Mr. Schacter received his B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook; a J.D. from the Nova Center for the Study of Law, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor of the Law Review; and an LL.M. in corporations law from the New York University School of Law.
