More Information About Artist Laura McCarthy:
Laura Alma McCarthy received her BFA from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. She earned another undergraduate degree in History from Davidson College in Davidson, NC. Her awards include an Emerging Artist Grant from the North Carolina Arts and Science Council to develop a new body of works on paper. She has received residency fellowships from the Vermont Studio Center and Virgina Commonwealth University Studio Program. She was integral in the founding of the artist collective ARPA, a group of 10 artists who met during a 2005 residency here at McColl Center.

Laura McCarthy also runs the non-profit One-breath. The mission of One-breath is to end the cycle of chronic homelessness, incarceration, and trauma that often accompanies the disease of addiction and mental health issues through the use of yoga and mindfulness practices.

Laura McCarthy and the Sozo Gallery will be donating 10% of any sales at the event to go to One-breath.
