Steven Rushing is an associate in Cadwalader’s Washington, D.C., office. His practice focuses on representing both plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation and other complex intellectual property matters before the International Trade Commission (ITC), federal district courts, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  He has worked with clients on cases involving a variety of technologies, including consumer electronics, semiconductors, medical devices, e-commerce, graphical user interfaces, and computer architecture.  Steven’s experience also includes litigating trademarks, complex business disputes and white collar crime.

Prior to joining the firm, Steven was an associate at Finnegan, Henderson, Farbow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP. He also worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable James Mahan in the United States District Court, District of Nevada.

Steven received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2012, where he was an editor of the Journal of Transnational  Law, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida.  He is admitted to practice in Virginia.

Representative patent litigation matters include:

  • Certain Sintered Rare Earth Magnets, Methods of Making Same and Products Containing Same, 337-TA-855.  Successfully represented defendant in patent infringement case involving rare earth metals.
  • MediaTek Inc. v. Freescale Semiconductor Inc. (N.D.Cal). Successfully represented defendant in patent litigation involving semiconductor patents before jury.
