Rory O’Connor is an associate in the Financial Restructuring Group and the Debt & Claims Trading practice in Cadwalader's London office.
Rory specialises in distressed debt and claims trading. He advises in connection with the acquisition and sale of syndicated bank loans, debt instruments, bond claims and distressed assets.
Prior to joining Cadwalader, Rory worked as an Associate in the Corporate department at Arthur Cox in Dublin, where he also completed a secondment in the HQ of a multi-national pharmaceutical company in New Jersey, USA.
Rory has significant experience advising on loan portfolio transactions and has end-to-end experience from analysing credit documentation and due diligence to financial close, acting on both the sale and purchase side.
- Rory represented RBS/Ulster Bank during its disposal of the €6 billion Project Aran loan portfolio.
- Rory acted for a U.S. Private Equity Firm in its bid and subsequent acquisition of the Project Coney portfolio from Ulster Bank.
- Rory acted for a U.S. Private Equity Firm in its bid for a number of tranches of Project Evergreen from the Special Liquidators of IBRC which consisted of secured loans to high profile trading entitles.
Rory has a wide range of experience working on other finance and corporate matters, including, private mergers and acquisitions, internal restructurings, joint ventures and commercial agreements.
Rory received a master’s degree in commercial law from the University of Rotterdam in 2012. Rory is admitted to practice in Ireland and England & Wales.
