Malcolm Wattman's practice is concentrated in risk-linked securities, structured finance, corporate finance, securities, and general corporate law. He represents investment banks, insurance and reinsurance companies, state insurance pools, public and private companies and institutional and individual investors in connection with public offerings and private placements of risk-linked securities, debt, equity and structured securities, credit agreements, business acquisitions and dispositions, contracts, and general corporate and commercial matters.

Mal's practice is focused on structuring new financial instruments and in securitizing and financing nontraditional assets (including wireless communication towers, timber properties, music royalties, health care receivables, taxi medallions, security alarm contracts, billboard revenues, loans to franchisees, time-share mortgages, and sports arena revenue streams) and insurance-related liabilities (including risk-linked and contingent capital transactions and sidecars). He has experience with consumer goods and services companies, health care facilities, financial institutions (including commercial and investment banks), broker-dealers, investment advisors, airlines, food and lodging, computer software, publishing, shipping, for profit higher education, natural resources and manufacturing companies, investment partnerships, and real estate investment trusts.

He has served as a director of companies in the photofinishing, consumer products, banking, and computer telephony businesses. Mal is currently a member of the board of trustees, executive, financial and audit committees and treasurer of the New York City/Southern New York Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a trustee and member of the Finance Committee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and a director and treasurer of Barrier Free Living, which operates accessible homeless facilities, a domestic violence residence shelter and social programs for the homeless and disabled. He also serves as a member of the advisory board of The Legal Aid Society's Community Development Project.

Mal received a B.S. from the University of Buffalo (now the State University of New York at Buffalo) and his J.D. from Fordham Law School. He held engineering, finance, and consulting positions at Griffiss Air Base, Uniroyal, M&M/Mars Inc., and Touche, Ross, Bailey & Smart (now Deloitte & Touche). He served on the Securities Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
