2010

  • Cadwalader was short-listed as a finalist for Bankruptcy Team of the Year at the 2010 Chambers Awards Dinner.
  • Cadwalader advised on three of the four deals short-listed as finalists for the Trading Risk Transaction of the Year Award: Parkton Re Ltd; Blue Fin Ltd; and MultiCat Mexico 2009 Ltd.
  • Cadwalader was honored by the Communitas Awards for excellence in community service and corporate social responsibility in recognition of two of the firm’s long-standing pro bono programs Working with Immigrants and the Not-for-Profit Incubator.
  • Cadwalader was recognized at the 2010 IFLR Americas Awards in acknowledgment of the firm's role as lead counsel to the United States Treasury Department in the restructuring of CIT Group, a matter that was named Restructuring Deal of the Year.

  • Pfizer’s $68 billion acquisition of Wyeth Inc., a transaction in which Cadwalader served as lead counsel to Pfizer, was named Deal of the Year by Investment Dealer’s Digest.

  • Cadwalader was named 2010 Law Firm of the Year by The M&A Advisor in recognition of work on numerous high-profile matters this past year including working on matters involving Chrysler, General Motors, and Lyondell Chemical Company, among others.  In addition, the firm was recognized for our work on the restructuring of General Motors, which received the M&A Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year Award and Industrial Manufacturing/Distribution Deal of the Year.

  • Cadwalader was recognized at the 2010 IFLR Americas Awards in acknowledgment of the firm's role as lead counsel to the United States Treasury Department in the restructuring of CIT Group, a matter that was named Restructuring Deal of the Year.

  • Cadwalader was named to the winners circle at the 2010 M&A Atlas Awards ceremony in recognition of the firm's role in Pfizer's acquisition of Wyeth Inc., a transaction that was named Corporate Deal of the Year.

  • Cadwalader was short-listed by International Financial Law Review for the European Debt and Equity-Linked Deal of the Year Award in recognition of the firm’s role in the Eurus II catastrophe bond transaction.

  • Three restructuring matters on which Cadwalader advised, Chrysler, CIT and BNP/SemGroup, were shortlisted by IFLR for Americas Restructuring Deal of the Year and Cadwalader was shortlisted for Americas Restructuring Team of the Year.

2009 

  • John Rapisardi was named by Turnarounds & Workouts to its list of Outstanding Restructuring Lawyers, cited for his work representing the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Presidential Task Force in the restructuring of Chrysler, General Motors, and Delphi.

  • Cadwalader received M&A Advisor’s Magnus Deal of the Year award for the firm’s role as lead counsel to the United States Treasury Department Presidential Auto Task Force with respect to the restructuring of Chrysler LLC.

  • Cadwalader was named a recipient of the Decade Award by the Burton Awards, a nonprofit program run in association with the Library of Congress that promotes the use of clear and concise language in legal writing.

  • The Washingtonian named three Cadwalader attorneys to the list of Top Lawyers in the Washington, D.C. area. Mark Ellenberg was named in Bankruptcy, Bruce Hiler was named in Securities, and Rick Rule was named in Antitrust.

  • The Tax Directors Handbook named Tax Department Co-Chair Linda Z. Swartz among the leading 250 tax lawyers in the world. 

  • Alicia Clifford was named as a recipient of the Sanctuary for Families Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Advocacy.

  • The firm was recognized as a leading law firm for client service in BTI Consulting Group's Survey of Client Service Performance for Law Firms: The BTI Client Service A-Team.

  • For the fourth consecutive year, Cadwalader received a score of 95 from The Human Rights Campaign in its Corporate Equality Index report, an analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees, consumers, and investors.

  • Ryan Andreoli, Gillian Groarke, Daniel Melman, and Ronit Setton were honored as recipients of the Pro Bono Publico Awards for outstanding service to The Legal Aid Society and its clients.

  • Cadwalader was among the law firms honored by Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) for fulfilling its annual pro bono pledge.

  • Jennifer Choe, Amanda Kosowsky and Jennifer Wetzel were honored by the Access to Justice Program of the New York State Courts for their contributions to the New York City Family Court Legal Services Project.

  • John Rapisardi won the Restructuring Legal Advisor of the Year award, and the firm's representation of JPMorgan Chase Bank in the Centro Properties Group restructuring was tapped for Out-of Court Restructuring of the Year, at the 2009 Turnaround Atlas Awards.

  • Cadwalader won for Restructuring Team of the Year, and a matter on which the firm was counsel won Deal of the Year, at the 2009 IFLR Americas Awards. 

  • Marking the sixth consecutive year that Cadwalader' lawyers have been recognized for effective legal writing, attorneys Dorothy Auth, Andrew Chien and John Peter Halski were selected to receive the Burton Award for in Legal Writing in recognition of the the use of plain, clear and concise language in legal writing.

  • Cadwalader partner Geoffrey Levin was named to the first-ever list of  the 10 Rising Stars of Private Equity and M&A Law by Institutional Investor News.

2008

  • Cadwalader was named Law Firm of the Year for the second consecutive year at the Real Estate Finance & Investment EPIC (Excellence in Property, Investment and CMBS) Awards for the firm's work on some of the most significant commercial real estate deals of the year.  

  • A matter for which Cadwalader served as lead debtor's counsel won the Magnus Award for Deal of the Year, presented by The M&A Advisor. The honor went to the Northwest Airlines Corporation restructuring and chapter 11 proceedings. Cadwalader guided the airline through the complicated process, allowing it to emerge on sound financial footing. 

  • Cadwalader won the M&A Advisor Magnus Award for Deal of the Year for the firm's work on the Northwest Airlines Corporation restructuring and chapter 11 proceedings. 

  • Cadwalader won the M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards for Law Firm of the Year: Reorganization and Bankruptcy Practice, in recognition of the team’s record of achievements, as well as Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year and Consumer Products & Services Turnaround Deal of the Year for its work as lead debtor’s counsel on the Northwest Airlines Corporation chapter 11 proceedings.  

  • Ingrid Bagby was named by Turnarounds & Workouts to its list of Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers

  • The Bond Buyer chose a matter on which Cadwalader served as counsel as the winner of the Annual Deal of the Year award for "Non Traditional Transaction," acting as counsel to Goldman Sachs on the Capital Beltway financing. 

  • Cadwalader was shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year honors in the category of global derivatives by the Annual Global Derivatives & European Securitization Awards, presented by DW Online & Total Securitization.   

  • The Legal Aid Society honored Cadwalader as a recipient of its Pro Bono Award for the firm's "outstanding contributions to the cause of equal justice." 

  • Legal Services NYC honored W. Joshua Brant and James McDonnell for their work on pro bono matters with the organization. 

  • The Sylvia Rivera Law Project honored Cadwalader for its work in the area of transgender law. 

  • The Mecklenburg Country Bar selected Cadwalader for the Pro Bono for Nonprofits Law Firm of the Year Award and associate John Domby for extraordinary effort and the devotion of substantial time and effort in the pro bono area.    
  • Attorneys Nazish Agha, David Miller, and Aseel Rabie were recognized by the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest at its First Annual Pro Bono Advocate Awards Breakfast.

2007 

  • More than 70 Cadwalader lawyers were recognized by the New York State Bar Association as Empire State Counsel for their pro bono work.

  • Lauren Lee was a recipient of a Sanctuary for Families Pro Bono Achievement Award for her dedication to improving the lives of immigrant battered women.

  • MultiCultural Law named Cadwalader one of the top 100 law firms in the country for diversity.

  • Cadwalader was tapped by Women 3.0 as one of the top 100 law firms in the nation for women.
  • Cadwalader was presented the Volunteer Market Penetration Award by Junior Achievement of New York as a company that mobilized 1% or more of its work force to volunteer for JANY programs.

  • The firm was recognized as a leading law firm for client service in BTI Consulting Group's Survey of Client Service Performance for Law Firms: The BTI Client Service A-Team

  • Cadwalader was named Securitization and Structured Finance Team of the Year at the IFLR Americas Awards. In addition, the novel Wachovia WITS transaction, handled by the firm's Corporate and Tax Departments, was named Debt and Equity-Linked Deal of the Year.

  • Cadwalader's Capital Markets Department was named Structured Products Team of the Year at the IFLR European Awards. The firm's work was also honored in the Structured Products Deal of the Year and the Restructuring Deal of the Year awards.

  • Cadwalader won the Law Firm of the Year honor for the second straight time at Total Securitization's Annual U.S. Securitization Awards.

  • Cadwalader secured a nomination for the Chambers Awards for Excellence.

  • Asian Legal Business chose Cadwalader as a finalist for its Equity Market Deal of the Year at the China Law Awards.

  • An article written by three Cadwalader attorneys was a Highly Commended Winner of the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence

  • Cadwalader was presented with an Interwoven Excellence Award in recognition for using technology in innovative and progressive ways. 
  • Cadwalader was a recipient of Junior Achievement of New York, Inc.'s Gold Philanthropic Award for significant contributions from the firm and its personnel. 

  • Cadwalader was short-listed for Finance Team of the Year by Legal Week based on innovation in the structured finance and debt capital markets.

 2006

  • Cadwalader was recognized at The Legal Aid Socienty's Pro Bono Awards for initiating a project for paralegals with the Juvenile Rights Practice's Manhattan office and for providing an important service to young people aging out of the foster care system.  

  • David Miller was named a recipient of The Legal Aid Society's Pro Bono Award.  

  • Debra Brown Steinberg was named a recipient of the American Bar Association's Pro Bono Publico Award.
