2013

  • Christopher A. Hughes (Intellectual Property) and David S. Miller (Tax) were named at the top of their respective practices in the 2013 United States Lawyer Rankings.

  • New York Litigation associate Atinuke (Tinu) Awoyomi was named to the Lawyers of Color 2013 "Hot List," which recognizes early- to mid-career attorneys who are excelling in the legal profession.

  • Cadwalader received the Advocate Law Firm of the Year Award from the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). The firm filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the ADC with the United States Supreme Court in University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center v. Nassar. At issue in the case is whether a Title VII plaintiff alleging retaliation must show that retaliation was the "but for" cause of his termination rather than one of several "motivating factors."

  • Cadwalader received the Washington Lawyers' Committee (WLC) Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of the firm's pro bono work with the Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project on Jose Alberto Claros v. Nastos Construction, Inc.

  • Cadwalader was named to The BTI Brand Elite 2013 Premium Value Honor Role, a measure of top-of-mind recognition among in-house counsel.  

  • Litigation Partner Peter J. Isajiw was named a 2013 Rising Star by the New York Law Journal for his role in key representations involving Deutsche Bank Securities Inc., the U.S. Treasury Department Presidential Auto Task Force and Omnicare, as well as several high profile pro bono matters;

2012

  • Cadwalader was honored by The Legal Aid Society as a recipient of the 2012 Pro Bono Publico Awards for outstanding service to The Legal Aid Society and its clients.  Every year, the Society recognizes the outstanding work of volunteer lawyers, law firms, corporations, and other professionals who support The Legal Aid Society and/or participate in the Society's Pro Bono Program by providing exceptional legal services to low-income New Yorkers.

  • Cadwalader was named the recipient of the Washington Lawyers' Committee (WLC) Outstanding Achievement Award for representation of a District of Columbia parolee who had been erroneously miscategorized during the parole process. Under the auspices of the WLC DC Prisoners' Project, Cadwalader secured a favorable settlement that will serve as an important precedent for others to challenge the application of unduly restrictive parole conditions.
  • Sharon Richardson was recognized by Super Lawyers as one of the top 30 women bankruptcy attorneys in New York in 2012.
  • Litigation partner Peter Clark was honored by the Ethisphere Institute with inclusion in the 2012 'Attorneys Who Matter' Hall of Fame.

  • Scott Cammarn, Stuart Goldstein, Gregory Markel, and Gregory Mocek were all named "Lawyers of the Year" by the 2013 edition of The Best Lawyers In America.

  • Cadwalader has been named the winner of the 2012 Derivatives Week/Derivatives Intelligence Law Firm of the Year Award based on activity in the over-the-counter sector, helping buy side and sell side drive in to new areas, consistency of service in established product areas and problem solving abilities.  In addition, Doug Donahue, a senior associate in the Financial Services Department, was named one of the 2012 Rising Stars of Derivatives.

  • Named by Asialaw as Leading Lawyers for 2012, Cadwalader partner Rocky Lee was recognized in the area of General Corporate Law in China, and partner Jeffrey Chen was recognized in the area of Structured Finance in Hong Kong.

  • Brad Bondi and Bret Campbell were honored for clear and concise writing at the 2012 Burton Awards for Legal Achievement for their article entitled "SEC Launches FCPA Probe of Financial Services Industry's Interactions with Sovereign Wealth Funds," published in the September 2011 issue of Financial Law Fraud Report.

  • Cadwalader was recognized for its commitment to the advancement of women in the legal profession at the inaugural Euromoney Legal Media Group/IFLR Americas Women in Business Law Awards, taking home the award for "Best in Gender Diversity by an International Firm" for the Cadwalader's Women's Leadership Initiative, adjustable work schedule and flex time support programs, and commitment to pro bono advocacy for women.

  • Christopher A. Hughes has been named a "Life Sciences Star" in the inaugural edition of LMG Life Sciences 2012.

  • Cadwalader served as counsel on a transaction that has been awarded the North American Biomass Deal of the Year for 2012 by Project Finance Magazine. The award recognizes the firm's counsel to the Gainesville Renewable Energy Center, developed by American Renewables. The facility is a 100-MW wood-fired biomass electric generating project outside of Gainesville, Florida.
  • Cadwalader garnered 2012 IFLR Awards for Securitization and Structured Finance Team of the Year; Securitization and Structured Finance Deal of the Year for BNP/Janus; and Restructuring Deal of the Year for Angiotech Pharmaceuticals. The firm was also shortlisted for Restructuring Deal of the Year for Caribbean Petroleum.

  • Cadwalader was shortlisted for four awards at Legal Media Group’s Americas Women in Business Law Awards 2012: Best Gender Diversity Initiative by an International Firm: Women’s Leadership Initiative; Work-Life Balance: Adjustable Work Schedule/Flex-Time Support Program; Best International Firm for Women in Business Law; and Best in Structured Finance: Anna Glick.

2011

  • Cadwalader ranked among the top 25 Most Innovative Law Firms in the Financial Times US Innovative Lawyers 2011 report. The firm also ranked among top law firms in technology, media and telecom for work on Microsoft’s antitrust cases and as a highly commended firm in finance for development of new deal structures in the CMBS market.

  • Cadwalader won a Best USA Law Firm silver award at the 2011 International Legal Alliance Summit & Awards.

  • Gregory A. Markel and Rick Rule were named among Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Lawyers in 2011.

  • Financial Restructuring partner George A. Davis was named for the second year in a row by Turnarounds & Workouts to its 2011 annual list of Outstanding Restructuring Lawyers in recognition of his work in restructurings involving AES Eastern, BLB Worldwide Holdings, Inc./Twin River Casinos, Caribbean Petroleum, Centro Properties, Dynegy, EME Homer City, LyondellBasell, and Millennium Custodial Trust. The Caribbean Petroleum representation resulted in an extremely successful section 363 sale after resolving significant environmental obligations and obtaining precedent-setting decision from the bankruptcy court.

  • Antitrust partner Jonathan Kanter was named a Rising Star by Law360 for his role advising on many very significant antitrust cases, including several on behalf of Microsoft.
  • Cadwalader received M&A Advisor's 2011 Industrial Goods and Basic Resource Deal of the Year award in recognition of the firm's role as debtor's counsel to LyondellBasell in its chapter 11 case.
  • Cadwalader was honored as a Bankruptcy Group of the Year by Law360, a Portfolio Media Inc. newswire. The Bankruptcy Group of the Year accolade is conferred upon the top five law firms "that did the hard work behind the headlines in 2010's big-dollar bankruptcies, whether it was for debtors or their creditors."   • Cadwalader won recognition in Investment Dealers' Digest for its work as debtor's counsel to LyondellBasell in its chapter 11 case, which was named 2010 Restructuring Deal of the Year. IDD noted that the workout involved "many unique twists." The awards celebrate dealmakers that created the most value for their corporate clients and for their investors.

2010

  • Cadwalader received top recognition from The Financial Times in its inaugural US Innovative Lawyers Report as one of only three firms ranked as "standout" for exceptional work in 2010 in the automotive sector for advising the U.S. Treasury Department Presidential Auto Task Force in the historic restructuring of General Motors and Chrysler and in the restructuring category for its work on the chapter 11 of petrochemical giant LyondellBasell.

  • Cadwalader's Asia Managing Partner, Rocky Lee, was named among the 2010 Leading Private Equity & Venture Capital Lawyers by Asia Legal Business.

  • Financial Restructuring partner George A. Davis was named by Turnarounds & Workouts to its annual list of Outstanding Restructuring Lawyers in recognition of his work on the chapter 11 cases of petrochemical giant LyondellBasell and Puerto-Rico based petroleum company Caribbean Petroleum, and for his representation of lenders in the restructurings of BLB Twin Rivers, a casino owner-operator, and Centro Properties, one of the largest owners of shopping centers in the United States and Australia.

  • Cadwalader was named a winner of the Turnaround Award of the Year by the M&A Advisor in recognition of work on the Chapter 11 Bankruptcy of Lyondell Chemical Company in which we served as debtor's counsel.

  • Special Counsel Francisco Linares was selected to receive the Legal Services of Southern Piedmont's 2010 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.

  • The Tax Directors Handbook named Tax Department Co-Chair Linda Z. Swartz among the leading 250 tax lawyers in the world. 

  • Alicia Clifford was named as a recipient of the Sanctuary for Families Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Advocacy.

  • The firm was recognized as a leading law firm for client service in BTI Consulting Group's Survey of Client Service Performance for Law Firms: The BTI Client Service A-Team.

  • For the fourth consecutive year, Cadwalader received a score of 95 from The Human Rights Campaign in its Corporate Equality Index report, an analysis and rating of large U.S. employers and their policies and practices pertinent to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees, consumers, and investors.

  • Marking the sixth consecutive year that Cadwalader lawyers have been recognized for effective legal writing, attorneys Dorothy Auth, Andrew Chien and John Peter Halski were selected to receive the Burton Award for in Legal Writing in recognition of the the use of plain, clear and concise language in legal writing.

  • Cadwalader partner Geoffrey Levin was named to the first-ever list of  the 10 Rising Stars of Private Equity and M&A Law by Institutional Investor News.

2008

  • Cadwalader was named Law Firm of the Year for the second consecutive year at the Real Estate Finance & Investment EPIC (Excellence in Property, Investment and CMBS) Awards for the firm's work on some of the most significant commercial real estate deals of the year.  

  • A matter for which Cadwalader served as lead debtor's counsel won the Magnus Award for Deal of the Year, presented by The M&A Advisor. The honor went to the Northwest Airlines Corporation restructuring and chapter 11 proceedings. Cadwalader guided the airline through the complicated process, allowing it to emerge on sound financial footing. 

  • Cadwalader won the M&A Advisor Magnus Award for Deal of the Year for the firm's work on the Northwest Airlines Corporation restructuring and chapter 11 proceedings. 

  • Cadwalader won the M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards for Law Firm of the Year: Reorganization and Bankruptcy Practice, in recognition of the team's record of achievements, as well as Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year and Consumer Products & Services Turnaround Deal of the Year for its work as lead debtor's counsel on the Northwest Airlines Corporation chapter 11 proceedings.  

  • Ingrid Bagby was named by Turnarounds & Workouts to its list of Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers

  • The Bond Buyer chose a matter on which Cadwalader served as counsel as the winner of the Annual Deal of the Year award for "Non Traditional Transaction," acting as counsel to Goldman Sachs on the Capital Beltway financing. 

  • Cadwalader was shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year honors in the category of global derivatives by the Annual Global Derivatives & European Securitization Awards, presented by DW Online & Total Securitization.

2007

  • Lauren Lee was a recipient of a Sanctuary for Families Pro Bono Achievement Award for her dedication to improving the lives of immigrant battered women.

  • Cadwalader was tapped by Women 3.0 as one of the top 100 law firms in the nation for women.
  • Cadwalader was presented the Volunteer Market Penetration Award by Junior Achievement of New York as a company that mobilized 1% or more of its work force to volunteer for JANY programs.

  • Cadwalader was named Securitization and Structured Finance Team of the Year at the IFLR Americas Awards. In addition, the novel Wachovia WITS transaction, handled by the firm's Corporate and Tax Departments, was named Debt and Equity-Linked Deal of the Year.
